Tampa, FL (March 12th, 2020): At Rare Drop, we’ve always believed in full transparency when working with our community. With the COVID-19 situation cancelling events and grounding event workforces across the world, we feel it’s best to share our plans with all of you.
We understand the severity of this situation and the safety of our guests has, and will always be, paramount. Our current plan looks like this:
Charity Marathon – The marathon will continue as planned from June 14th – June 21st in it’s normal format. We don’t forsee any issues with this and feel the community will once again rally together to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
GCX ’20 – Barring any extreme type of quarantine, GCX ’20 will happen in some form. At this moment we are still making prepartions for a physical event at Rosen Shingle Creek for June 27th – 28th. While many events are cancelling, we feel that we have over 3 months until our event and cancelling it now would be irresponsible and a disservice to so many who have already paid their way to attend. However, if we are forced to cancel the physical event, GCX ’20 would be moved to a closed set live show that would be streamed. This would give us the opportunity to work with our partners remotely and provide the activations and entertainment you’re used to from the main stage at GCX. We will make the final decision for the show format on May 1st.
Ticketing/Refunds – In the event that we are forced to cancel the floor show and move our event to a digital format, refunds will be issued to anyone who pre-purchased, minus 15% for processing fees and admin fees that we can’t get back. The alternative to this is we would be changing the GCX ’20 ticketing site over to GCX ’21. We would announce the dates and location for next year and allow the tickets you’ve already purchased to be used at GCX ’21. If you choose this option, it would require no action on your part.
We understand this situation is not ideal for anyone but our team is working around the clock to make sure that GCX lives on in some form in 2020. If you have any further questions you can contact us at our socials below.
